BPA National Placement

Hunter Wynn of Hendrickson High School placed in the top ten in Payroll Accounting at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2013 National Leadership Conference, “Uncover Your Magic,” in Orlando, FL, May 8-12.

Hunter joined over 6,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national level business skill competitions, workshops, general sessions, and the national officer candidate campaigns and elections. Hunter competed in the Payroll Accounting competition at the National BPA Competition in Chicago last year.  This is Hunter’s second trip to nationals, and he is only the second Hendrickson High School student to win at nationals.

Fine Arts at HHS

Somewhat of a hidden gem, the Fine Arts programs at HHS are thriving and this coming week is a great example.  While our art classes are growing at a strong pace, our choir, band, dance, and theater are also at their peak in terms of enrollment and recognition.  The fine arts give students another opportunity to be part of something at HHS while demonstrating their individual and collective talent.

Below are scenes from the band banquet, celebrating another stellar year for Hawk Band.  Also, a scene from this last weekend's performance.  Don't forget to support Hendrickson Choir by coming out to see "Spotlight" on May 23rd or 24th.

"To Save a Life" Pre-Prom Program

Our Seniors had the opportunity to take part in a pre-prom alcohol and driving awareness program on Friday.  This program was coordinated through a partnership through our Student Council sponsors Julie Lacy and Amanda Gass, our Senior Class Officers, and the Travis County Fire Department.  After listening to a speaker, they had the opportunity to witness a mock crash and EMS rescue.  It was definitely a humbling experience for all, as many of our Seniors thanked the speakers and emergency staff while still talking about the experience at the end of the day.  Thanks to all for creating a memorable learning experience for our students.

PISD Fashion Show

HHS Sophomore Singing as Mid-Show Entertainment
Hendrickson students joined Connally students as the Fashion Design classes put on the first ever PISD Fashion Show.  Original designs created by students were shown off by students that volunteered as "models."  It was an incredibly slick presentation that was the result of hours of hard work.

Thanks to the students, Ms. Sutphen, Ms. Schuessler, and Ms. McCoy for all their hard work.
