Hawk Triumphs from the Past Week

Congrats to the entire speech/debate team for their work this past weekend.  In particular, special kudos go to Lindsey Butler and Janie Townsend on their success at the Harvard University Tournament of Champions.

Lindsey advanced to the octafinal round in Extemporaneous Speaking and Janie advanced to the double-octafinal round in Dramatic Interpretation.  Advancing to outrounds at this tournament is a huge accomplishment; the total number of competitors in each event was over 300 of the best students in the nation.

Softball lost to Elgin on Tuesday, but bounced back to join Baseball and Girls Soccer on Friday by sweeping home victories in all the events.  It was a busy Friday night at HHS, but a good reminder that our spring sports are on their way to outstanding finishes.

Speaking of outstanding finishes, we had three State Finalists represent Hendrickson this weekend.  Kierra Boyce finished 4th in the state in wrestling while Aaron Overheim finished 10th in 200 Freestyle and 7th in the 500 Freestyle.  Congrats to both and know we are busy planning a way to celebrate all these notable achievements at HHS very soon.
