This past weekend, journalism students attended UIL’s Interscholastic League Press Conference. At this conference, student publications are rated and ranked, as well as student pieces (work published in the last year) being judged individually
The Hawk Newspaper was rated the Award of Distinguished Merit. This is the highest rating in the conference. It was also nominated for a Star Award, which is given to the top 10% of school newspapers it the state, but unfortunately fell short of that award this year.

General News Photo—Blake Borgholtaus—Honorable Mention (4th place)
Sports Action Photo—Madie Leon—Honorable Mention ( 6th place)
Captions—Keely Clarkson—3rd place
Headines—Justin Mendoza, An Phung, Keely Clarkson, Lindsay Skelton—Honorable Mention—6th place
